Army Cadets is the basic Military training for the Australian Army. Cadets gives you basic military skills such as navagating and survival. Army Cadets is great for meeting new people and extending your skills out of school. It also gives you confidence to be yourself and still teaches you self discipline and manners. |
47 Australian Cadets Unit has had a reputation to be the upholding best in South Australia. From providing the best cadets for assitance in parades like ANZAC Day, 47 is upholded on its discipline and manner inside and outside cadets. The officers running 47 are always happy to help with difficulties and make the unit a family outside of home. The cadets and officers from 47 will always make newcomers feel welcome, even if they are still scared of the masses of people in uniform. |
From learning drill to spending a week in the bush, Army Cadets provides with the basic traing to handle almost any situation, even basic first aid and hygiene. 47 is big on having people good at drill and being proud of the unit. Teaching the cadets drill and to be precise at it is one of the most important issues. Then spending a training weekend learing to crawl at night without being heard or seen, use a radio for an emergency and knowing how to use it correctly. You learn basic hygiene in and out of the field which does then affect your everyday life, making you notice what you are really doing. And then learning to always think before you talk, and to talk with confidence. |
Joining is a simple procedure involving the parentals and the child that wishes to join. You must be aged between 12/5 and 18. The 'joiner' is expected to come to Keswick Barracks to the cadet unit (straight down the road and near the railway line, flag pole out the front of the office) on a Friday before 1900hrs. Here the administration officers will hand you a joining instruction with the information you need. From here you talk it over with your parents and discuss whether or not you are that commited. |
