The LI Shelter Dogs. Everyone on this page has either been dumped off at the shelter or found roaming the streets. Dogs are brought to the shelter everyday at any hour. Please open your minds, hearts and, homes to a new lifetime friend. Help save a life.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com Image hosted by Photobucket.com Suki was found as a stray with her brother (Keif) and what we think might have been her daughter (Bunny). When she was first brought in she was very frightened. Since then she has really come around, and many of us at the shelter have fallen in love. Please help us save Suki, shes a really amazing girl. Suki's favorite things in the world are going for walks, belly rubs, piggy ears and sleeping in her doggie bed (she could snuggle in there all day). Suki's one of the favorites at the shelter =0) sometimes she likes to play shy (but thats just how she reels them in ;0) Shes a real sweetheart and likes to be the center of attention so we need her to go to home without other dogs or kids. ..Suki likes to act like she's a tough cookie but (just for the record)she's the biggest marshmallow softy in the joint, once she gets to know you. So if you are looking for a mushy gushy cuddly friend w/ lots of personality that's her =0) She's been at the shelter way too long already (a couple of months) and really needs a good home. ( between you and me Suki secrectly wonders why she was dumped at the shelter and she's really sorry for whatever it was that she did, please give her another chance)

Image hosted by Photobucket.com Image hosted by Photobucket.com Hi Im Arrow. I was dropped off at the shelter by my mom and dad because they were moving. I have been here since September 12 of last year and I can't wait to meet a new family to love. I am a very good boy, I love going for walks and saying hi to people passing by. My friends at the shelter love me very much but i sure miss having a home. I miss soft warm beds and running in my back yard but most of all i just miss having somebody love me, giving me hugs and kisses (i love that)and call me crazy but nothing beats a scratch on the old backside. The shelter's an ok place, but it gets real noisy and its hard to fall asleep. The concrete floors hurt my hips and elbows and I miss waking up in a cozy snuggly bed. Ive been waiting a real long time so please hurry. I am listed as 'URGENT' at my shelter, so time is running out. Maybe Ill see you later =0). Update: Arrow has been rescued by Southhold Animal Shelter, a no-kill rescue out east on the island. Yeaaah! Arrrow is still up for adoption but he now has a greater chance of finding a really great home so if your interested please contact me!!

Image hosted by Photobucket.com This June Mike will complete a full year of being at the shelter..an impressive yet profoundly sad landmark. Despite being couped up in a roughly small pen 24 hours a day seven days a week for those ten months. Mike is extremely sweet and lovable. He is a beautiful little boy that prays oneday he will get to run around and live with a real family again. Mike's not sure how he got here or why but secretely (when he thinks nobody's looking) makes a wish that that day will be his last at the shelter. Mike is holding on still but it is a fact of shelter life that most dogs do not survive past a couple of months without becoming 'cage crazy.' Please help us find Mike his forever home. Mike is an adult male pitbull mix who loves playing outside and gettin lovin. Hes very sweet, warm and calms down very fast once he gets out of his pen. He can sit on command and loves going for afternoon strolls. (P.S this picture might make him look grouchy but hes really just a doof and a mush) =0)

Image hosted by Photobucket.com Image hosted by Photobucket.com This handsome boy ladies and gentlemen is 'Curly' a.k.a. 'Jiles.' He is a young vivacious poodle mix who unfortunately has found himself in a predicament. Curly is a true sucker for the ladies through and through but is very scared and anxious around men. As a result, He has been finding it very difficult to find a home. (I guess some people have this thing about snappy dogs or something..go figure...=0) Well, besides his little challenge, Curly is a really great dog. He's great on walks and is obedient. He is housbroken and loves to get rubbed down. Curly is a love bug that needs a special home with a lot of love, attention and patience. Please help us place Him with a special family. {P.S. On one of our one to ones, Curly admit to me in no uncertain terms that a past trauma in his life was to blame to the extreme fear he seems to have for men. Curly is afraid people judge him too harshly for what he likes to think of as simply a preference call. Curly hopes that one day his soul mate will make their surprise entrance and rescue him into the sunset, But dont tell him i mentioned anything, i was sworn to secrecy... -----Update: Curly has recently been given a hair cut in hopes of increasing his chances, we are working the ladies' angle to the max =0) Heres crossin our fingers.....)

Image hosted by Photobucket.com Hi Im Molly! I am one of the senior citizens at the shelter. I was brought in as a stray with multiple burns on my back and broken teeth. I was sent to the emergency clinic and fixed up. Now I am all better. =0) Molly is one of the most well behaved dogs at the shelter. She loves taking naps but once you get her going shes very spunky. Molly loves being with other dogs and gets along great with cats. Because she is a little older she does have a few special needs. Because of her teeth, Molly must be given soft food only. Shes very good at going to the bathroom outside but must be taken out regularly, she tries her very best not to make any mistakes but as a senior she is not able to hold it as long as she used to. Molly is an amazing dog and whoever takes her will be very lucky to have her =0) Update: Molly has been rescued by Save-A-Pet on 112, Port Jefferson,NY!!! She is now the official 'behind the desk' gal =0) Yeeeeeah!!=0) Go and visit her and while your there take home a new best friend dog or cat =0) Update: an amazing man saw Molly and just couldn't resist taking her home! Check it out--> Image hosted by Photobucket.comImage hosted by Photobucket.com
