An interview with Ville Hermani Valo(singer of H.I.m)(by Erin broadly):Eb-You recently wrapped up your first tour in America. How did it go?...Valo-Unfortuntly we toured the East/West coasts so we didn't run into any rednecks(laughs). We were saved from all of the violence. But the tour was Excellent. The wheater was buitiful most of the time. All the gigs sold out.Loads of kids knew all the lyrics to all the songs, even from albums that haven't been released here yet.It was really a big surprise for us.We thought we were going to have to go back in time-time travel-and start from scratch.Eb-I heard that some fans were paying upward of $200 for tickets on Ebay.Valo-Did they?Oh for fucks sake.Well for us, its always better not to have too many expectations and to just go with the flow because then its always a big plus no matter what happens.I'm truely happy. The tour was pretty easy but pretty hectic. We had a few days of in Seattle.Nothing weird happened. It was a new country and a new culture for us to experience. It was just us walking around and going to starbucks and getting a cup of coffee. We didn't really do loads of interviews or any pr.We really just wanted to enjoy the first tour and hang out, like we did in most of the countries in Europe on the first tour.It was just nice to be able to party and hang out a bit and not make it to excuriating.Eb-Do you see any particular similarities or differences between the way the music industry functions here in America as opposed to Europe?Valo-For us, the music industry is a weird situation in the way that now were done with BMG(record deal)in Europe. So were free men to be slaves again,so to speak So we've been nogotiaing with labels now and it's looking good. Were in a wonderful situation that there are loads of American Record compainies that like what we do.And thats a lovely thing. So were trying to pick the lesser of the evils.Eb-Do you think achieving success via ones creative endeavors is harder here?Los Angolos in particular gets critisized for strangiling the creative life out of bands.Valo-Well thats part of the music industry as well.Los Angolos and New York are the big centers of the music industry, worldwide so ofcoarce it can be hard for the newcommers who don't know what to expect from the music buisness. But we learned loads of lessons back in Europe so we know how the buisness works, more of less. We've realesed loads of albums. We've been working with record labels since 1996.And we never seem to have any problems with it because, like i've said to you before, their buisness is to sell records and we're just trying to make the record itself.Basically, thats how it is.We're trying to have the band create something buitiful that will hopefully one day,20 years from now,can be picked up by a kid and hopefully have the same affect that Neil Young had on me,of Led Zepplin,Black Sabbath.Thats what were aiming at.We hope people understand the amount of emotion we put into our work and that they can hopefully get emotionally attached to what we do as well and then create a situation(by hooking up with a record label) where the music is available to listen to.Eb-Last we talked, you mentioned you were working on some rough versions of new songs. How is that comming along?Valo-Yeah,im still writing.I've got about 14 tracks now.But we've been on tour so we haven't had time to get back to a rehearsal place. When we have time off were just going to concentrate on rehearsal and see what happens. Its a complicated thing especially with our new label situation happening, but were in a good situation where were not in a hurry to get a new album out.Eb-Being that music is an art form and artists are expected to be able to talk about there work, cite refrences and place it within a historical context,do you think it doest the music a disservice when musicians talk about thier craft solely in terms of wanting to "rock out" and don't engage in an actual diologe about it?Valo-Well its hard to say.Its like speculating about where the line exists between eroticism and porn.Eb-There's a big difference.Valo-Yeah,but where's the line? Its the same thing because ofcoarce,on one hand, there are bands singing about Jaccuzis and fast cars and silicone boobs and drugs. But for me personally music is a different thing, like Neil Young singing about the"Heart of Gold",emotionally speaking. So none of its bad but its very hard to say where to draw the line.Music for me is an emotional thing and it really does make me happy. It's not a tool for me to get fame or see my face in the papers,or anything like that. It's about the fact that I really do enjoy it.It's about the only thing in the world that makes me happy. And that's a big thing and I want to cherrish that. It's magic to me...(if your intrested in reading the rest of this interview, then go to suicide girls*website*)

An interview with Gerard Way(vocalist for My Chemical Romance)(by MIke):Mike-In what way was recording the new album(Three cheers for sweet revenge)different than recording your first album(I bought you the bullets, you bought me your love)?Gerard:We had alot more time to do it.We had alot more time to write and we got to develop as a band, really find out who we were before we made another record. On the first record we had only been a band for three months.Mike-What is the craziest moment/experience you've had while on tour?Gerard-Craziest thing that ever happened to me was being attacked by a black bird.It pecked the shit out of my head.We were at this hotel called The phenoix in San Fransisco. We were leaving to go to a show the next morning and the bird just fuckin' attacked my head. And the next day slipknot were there, they were comming in as we were leaving, and they got attacked by birds too.Mike-What would you be doing right now in you weren't in My Chemical Romance?Gerard-Realistically I'd most likely be working a really crappy job at a book store or something. If I wanted to be optomistic about it i'd have to say i'd be doing something that involved art.Mike-Who or what inspired you to become a singer?Gerard-Well it started really young with Bruce Dickonson(Iron Maiden). He really inspired me 'cause he's a great frontman,a great singer and I've always been influenced by the way he sang. Also, obviously,Jeff from Thursday inspired me as a person to just get up and do that.I've been a fan of music and i've always wanted to be in a band.I just never had the urge to be a frontman untill I saw him do it.I was like"You know what?It just seems so incredible and it seems that he's actually making a difference and he was doing something."Right at that moment is when I knew I would do it.Mark-What's your favorite venue to play right now?Gerard-Uh,thats really tough.I guess,I would say the metro, yeah, the metro in Chicago.Mike-What is your favorite band at the moment?Gerard-My favorite band at the moment is the Dredson Dolls, they're from Boston. It's a guy and a girl. She plays piano and he plays drums and she also sings. You can find them on the web, they're incredible.Mike-What band or bands would you like to tour with and why?Gerard-We just got a tour with Face To Face,it's their farewell tour. And it's such an honor 'cause we've always wanted to tour with them and to get offered their "farewell tour" is just amazing.Iron Maiden is obviously another band i'd love to tour with as well.Mike-I'm going to ask a few not-so-usual questions, kind of funny. Also kind of weird and feel free to anser if you'd like if you don't wish to anser just say it,that's all okay.Gerard-Alright,cool man go for it.Mike-Okay,what celebrity or band do you hate the most and why?Gerard-Well,I don't really hate any band and I know it's kind of avoiding the question and not shit talk but not I really don't hate any bands.Celebrities, that may be a little easier.I guess i'd have to be someone really annoying.Mike-Kindof like carrot top?Gerard-Carrot top is a really good one.I kinda feel bad for him though.Same thing with Pauly Shore so you really can't say that about him either. You can't help but feel sorry for them both.Mike-How long have you gone without showering while on tour?Gerard-About a week.If you go longer than a week you might as well not even leave the hotel. Not even bother to play,it just start's to smell so bad.Mike-Have you ever let a guy grab your ass and enjoyed it?Gerard-Um,lots of people grab my ass.I'm actually starting to get this thing now where people grab my package. That actually happened once,in Boston,it usually doesn't happen. We went over to England and it happened at almost every show.I don't really enjoy any kind of invasion of privacy like that I guess.Just the moment your on stage it doesn't phase you or bother you too much though. Grabbin' my package is obviously a total invasion of privacy,im not into all that.Grabbin' my butt I guess if it were a guy i'd enjoy it.I mean,I guess it all depends on how he grabbed my butt too.Mike-Who is the celebrity you would want to have sex with the most and why?Gerard-The queen of England(laughs)Mike-Who in the band gets the most ladies?Gerard-Uh,were not really a lady-band.Ray is really the only single one.So I guess Ray would be getting all the ladies.Mike-If you could have sex with Paris Hilton would you film it?Gerard-Uh no,I wouldn't want anyone to no I did that.Mike-Hypothetically,if you were to hook up with(kiss)any male celebrity who would it be?Gerard-I guess i'd say Toby Maguire just 'cause he's spider-man.

An interview with Pat Callahan and Shaun Morgan(Seether Guitarists)(by Darkstar): darkstar-how's the tour going?Shaun-Right now were on a press tour.Started in Montreal. There for a day, then we flew to Toronto, stayed there for two days, did a show. Then we flew in here last night.Tonight, right after the show,we have to rush to the airport and fly to Edmonton. Some press tommorow. So,it's been good. It's been good.Pat-That ones just a tease. We haven't started the long one yet.darkstar-Is that how you ended up playing small club shows like the one at the media club tonight?Shaun-Yeah,it's secret show.It hasn't been well advertised.Just through the radio station. It's just a way for us to showcase the new stuff before our new album before it comes out next week. darkstar-Seeter is probably the most well-known South African band out there today and I keep hearing about how bands from South Africa don't get through exposere. How did seether manage to break out into the international scene?Shaun-I don't know.We got heard by one of the records. We had an album out in South Africa that we sent all over the world.Someone in Germany liked the album but they couldn't sign in because it wasn't German.Wind-up was the one that heard the album and liked it and then signed us,you know.It was the basic essence of what happened.I mean,it took a long time. The whole course was about 6 months.Actually,it was more like a year. But thats how we got discoverd by wind-up.That's how we got to the states.I can't explain why people like our music. We do. So there must be people as screwed as we are to like our music.darkstar-How do you like working with wind-up records?Shaun-Theyr'e cool.Theyr'e a small label.I think theyr'e considered to be the largest independent label right. And let us do pretty much what we want to do.So for us to make music and not being told how to do it or what to do is just pretty cool.Theyr'e really sopportive of the band, really sopportive of the music. They do a bunch of marketing behind the album. So it's pretty cool.Pat-With some labels you don't even get to meet the owner. We go out to dinner with our owner like every time he's around.Shaun-Some labels, you don't even get to meet those people at all.Pat-You don't even meet the owners assistant's assistant.Shaun-Yeah,and we deal with the record's owner, which is cool.darkstar-So you feel close to everyone there?Shaun-Yeah.darkstar-sounds like a family.Pat-Yeah,they try to make it that way. It's not like a buisness family.Shaun-Yeah,like a family dairy that we all work at.Pat-(laughs)That's a good way to put it.darkstar-Do you think that the recording of "Broken" with Amy Lee brought you guys more fame and exposere?Shaun-Definetlly.Definetlly alot more exposere.Obviously, she's more high profile. It was our first and last song that got played on pop radio.Worldwide we got alot more exposere. We got alot more album releases. We normally wouldn't have had them before.Pat-(still staring out the window, watching a plane landing on water)Sorry, there's a plane in the water.Shaun-So,yeah I mean, there's a bunch of countries that weren't intrested in releasing the album untill we did the song with Amy.Now they can't wait for the new album to come out,and like, everybody is freaking out.It was a great oppourunity for us to break the ice in a scence of with a bunch of countries and bunch of people.Get some new fans, you know.
