The Women of Purpose is a ministry team of Canaan Christian Fellowship comprised of women of all ages. Their primary focus is prayer. In addition to the regularly scheduled meetings every other week, the women maintain constant communication throughout the week in an attempt to assure that all are focusing on relevant issues.
The participants of the Women of Purpose have been gifted as intercessors for the church and the community at large. Various ministries have been implemented as a result of their prayerful and Spirit-led insight. It is not unusual for them to practice random acts of kindness both in the church setting and in the community. It is a special blessing to have such committed women who maintain keen spiritual insight, while at the same time are unafraid to trust God for guidance,
In order to know more of God's will and to assure that their prayers are in accordance with His divine appointment, the women use various biblically based materials to enhance their personal growth. The most recent books used by the Women of Purpose are three best-selling series written by Stormie Omartian (The Power of a Praying Wife"), Evelyn Christianson ("Lord Change Me!") and Charles Stanley ("Handle with Prayer"). All three resources appear to bring timely lessons, in addition to issuing healthy challenges.
It has been evidenced that lives are being changed for the better. In most circumstances, it takes a great number of years to establish the level of trust and personal commitment as evidenced by this ministry team. It is a blessing to observe the funtionality of the various accountability partnerships they've established in such as short period of time. While some ministries operate in a traditional vacuum and seem to assemble simply to meet, great, and eat. The Women of Purpose are productive. Not only can you can see the fruit of their labors in answered prayer, but the tension of living "in" the world and yet not be "of" the world is being diminished in the marketplace as well as the church setting.
"Those praying women" as they are affectionately called by our pastor and the Men of Standard, (know, as the old folks used to say), "know how to get a prayer through." They give their undivided attention to God, in a spirit of humility always anticipating that God will be faithful. It is not unsual to hear their testimonies of the greatness of God before and after He has divinely intervened in our lives.
We would encourage you to contact one of the women of the church and attend one of the Women of Purpose prayer meetings soon. We all know that God has been the mainstay of our successes in life, as well as, in all that is worthwhile throughout all of history. We believe there is a place for you in this ministry that will be richly rewarding to you if you let go and let God!
