Hey all! For those who do not know me, I am Chris Moody. This home page, along with the ones that follow, are designed to help you learn more about me. So if you know me already, then these pages will hopefully get you to know me better. And if you do not know me, then this should give you some insight on me and my life.
I was born on Hill Air Force Base in Clearfield, Utah on July 13, 1983. I was the only child to Robert and Irma, my parents. When I was about 8 months old my parents divorced. My parents were both in the military, both in the Air Force. My mom got remarried in 1985 to George. She says I was at the wedding and that I had step-brothers and sisters, but I don't remember that. Shortly after I was born they were stationed on Okinowa, Japan. I would live there till I was about 4 years old. While I lived on Okinowa, Japan, I went on a trip with my mom to Disney World Tokyo. I don't remember being there, but I do remember being on the small airplane seeing my dad direct the plane out so we could take off.
Let me take this time to pause and tell you about my parents:
My mom, Irma, was born in Socorro, Texas. That's a suburb of El Paso. She is 100% Mexican and is the second oldest out of seven children. My mom was born on November 22, 1955 to my grandparents, Bonifacio and Anita(other wise known as Corny). My mom has two children, me of course being one of them. She had my sister, who I will get to later, in 1987. She retired after 20 years in the Air Force in August of 1994. She is now currently employed by AAFES(Army and Air Force Exchange Services) in the Human Resources Department and resides in San Angelo, Texas.
My dad, Robert, was born in Drew, Mississippi. That's also where quarterback Archie Manning grew up, in fact, my dad and Archie grew up and played sports together. It just so happened that Archie dated my Aunt Mar while they were in high school. My dad is the oldest child out of four children. My dad was born on March 19, 1949 to my grandparent, G.W. and Ann. I am the only child my dad has ever had. My dad retired from the Air Force in December of 1990. He now lives the life of a couch potato and enjoys his retirement playing golf. He resides in The Middle of Nowhere, Florida.
I mentioned that I had a sister a little earlier. Her name is Ann Drea, but she is better known to me as Karla or "Babygirl". My sister was born on April 18, 1987 in Okinowa, Japan. She is about 3 years and 9 months younger than me. She is a straight A student, something I could be but choose not to, and is active in band and athletics. For some odd reason she is obsessed with vampires. Her favorite colors are probably black and red. I can remember when I was 14 years old painting her face so she could go trick or treating as a vampire. But hey, as long as she don't bite me, it's all good!
Ok, now back to my somewhat interesting childhood...
While living on Okinowa, Japan, I got really into Superman. So much in fact that my Aunt Peggy bought me Superman pajamas. It was the pants, shirt, and cape. Well, one day while my mom was ironing I was sitting by the window. When she went to get more clothes or something, I decided like flying like Superman. So I jumped out of the two story window apartment we were living in. My mom says I landed just inches from the sidewalk. I also had scratches on my body from hitting the ledge below the window. I still say it was fun!
We left Okinowa shortly after my sister was born. My mom, sister, and me went to Pasadena, California. That is where I started school. I also got involved in team sports there. I played baseball, football, and basketball there for this youth league. The team name was the Indians. I can remember having to try out to play football cause you had to be 6 years old to play football in the youth league, I was only 5. I tried out and proved I could play with the 'older' kids. I wore number 22, which seems to be a family number, and I was a lot more reckless than I am now. I saw some old footage of me playing and I was surprised. I went to kindergarten and half of my first grade year in California before I flew to Virginia to live with my dad for the remainder of my first grade year and all of my second. In Virginia I did not play football for a league but played a lot of football in this big field with all different age group kids. I did, however, play baseball for a little league. I was very good too. I led the team in total hits and in batting average. I played shortstop and was voted by the coaches of all the teams to play in the Little League All Star Game. I know it's only little league but hey, I'm proud of it.
After my second grade year I flew to the Azores, Portugal to live with my mom. We lived on the Azores for all of my third and half of my fourth grade year. Once again I did not play football in a league, they didn't have one. I did play basketball, baseball, and soccer. I was really good in basketball. Back then I could shoot three's all day and make them. Today I'm more of a streak shooter from the outside. I played baseball as well on the Azores. This time I played 1st base. It was new for me but I think I did really good there. I also helped my mom coach my sisters t-ball team while we were there. In soccer I was not so great. Well for one I played goalie. That's not much fun when the ball never comes your way. So that was the only year I played soccer. While living in the Azores I first became attracted to girls. I can remember dressing up in church type clothes to school to try and impress this one girl. But that was back in the day.
My mom, sister, and me all went on vacation while we lived in the Azores as well. We took a plane to Germany and stayed on a military base there. We took tour buses to Austria, Switzerland, France, and other places that I can not spell. I remember seeing where Heidi lived, going into this one castle, and visiting Paris. We went up on the Eiffel Tower too. True we only went up to the first level, but I can at least say I was on it. It was a lot of fun.
In December of 1992, my mom was stationed back in the U.S.A. in San Angelo, TX at Goodfellow A.F.B. I attended the remainder of my fourth grade year there along with all of my fifth. I can recall playing two years of baseball there and one year of football(league). My baseball coach and one of my good friends, Tomas, was my coach both years. He played me at first base and pitcher my first year with him on the Twins. We lost many games but it was fun. My second year with him we were on the Padres and this time around we won the Southern Little League Championship. Tomas started me out at first base and pitcher but then moved me to catcher all time. Playing catcher was a lot of fun. In football I played on the Raiders. I played quarterback and wore number 19 cause my idol, Joe Montana, was playing on the Chiefs where he wore number 19. That year I received a mild concussion, but I still had lots of fun.
My sixth grade year I went to Florida to live with my dad. The middle school I attend just opened and was brand new. I was one of the 'Founding Falcons' as they called us. They didn't really have sports there but they did have intermurals. I played football, basketball, and ran track. Nothing really happened that year cause like I mentioned earlier, my dad lives in The Middle of Nowhere.
I went back to Texas the following year. I attended Edison Jr. High for my 7th, 8th, and 9th grade years. I had a lot of fun there and made some really cool friends. I played basketball all three years and football two years. I grew up a lot at Edison from when I was in elementary. I entered jr. high wearing jeans that fit kind of tight and I always tucked in my shirt. By the time I left Edison three years later, I wore baggy jeans, I let my shirts hang out, and I had the bigges collection of sport jerseys at my school. Also, over the years there I grew in popularity big time. Entered as a nobody to everybody, left as a somebody to almost everyone.
My sophomore and junior years of high school I attended San Angelo Central High School. I had a lot of fun there too and met some more cool people and one person who is very dear to me. I played j.v. football for Central my sophomore year before my left knee messed up on my again and I got out. I took some classes I never thought I'd take, like Culinary Arts and Prep for Parenting. Those classes were really cool though. I also got a job just before my junior year. I worked at Burger King on the military base. I had a pretty good salary there too. A lot of my friends from Edison and Central worked there with me. We had a lot of fun at work, and that's all I'm gonna say about that.
This, my senior year of high school, I am back in Florida. I am attending Lecanto High School which is 17.1 miles from my dad's house. It takes me like 20 minutes to drive to school. I took Marine Biology which was a pretty cool class cause we got to go on two field trips to the Gulf of Mexico and one trip to Sea World in Orlando. On one of our trips to the Gulf, we got to swim with the manatee. It was a very interesting class. I am also taking photography which is also a cool class cause we take pictures and develop them. The pictures are black and white but they are cool. But so far my greatest accomplishment is that I'm passing my Algebra II class. I failed that class my junior year but I am doing really good this year. Once again I am working at Burger King. The drive to where I work is also 17 miles. But I too have a lot of fun there. Sometimes I don't but most of the time I enjoy working there. I do, however, get a much lower salary there.
I graduate high school on May 30th and I do have plans after graduation...
After I graduate I will be attending Angelo State University, for two years at least. ASU is back in San Angelo, TX, if you could not gather that information already. I plan to major in History, probably U.S. History as to I don't really care much about World History. But I love history so that might change later on. I also plan to minor in Kinesiology or Physical Education. I don't know how you have heard it but they are both the same thing. I am hoping to one day be a History teacher and football coach and maybe basketball coach(or both).
As to where I think I may end up living, as of now I have no unearthly idea. All I know is that it will probably be in Texas.
NOTES: You may have realized that I mentioned sports pretty much in every place that I lived. What can I say? Sports are my life, the one thing in my life that has remained constant.
Well that is all for this page for now. When I remember more information about my childhood I will update this page with some more accurate information. Please feel free to sign the guestbook if you wish.
