'Encore - The Greatest Hits' is a compilation of all of the greatest hits off my four mixtapes. First off was USAFUX, released in October 2004 which included the breakaway hit "Celebrate" by D. Ham. In November, Soon Later... was released and featured a few known hits including Lil Wyte's "I Sho Will" which recieved heavy rotation on BET, and still does. In January, I returned strong with The Side Show which mostly featured underground freestyles, hence the name The Side Show. The lead single was Cross Cypha's "Straight Out" which gained heavy airplay. MainStream was then released March 1st, and featured Bumba & Jhae's "Big O Bitties". Shortly after MainStream I officially announced I would not continue making mixtapes, due to legal issues, but decided to make this tape as a final goodbye. |

My mixtapes were created to promote unknown artists, and USAFUX was a big experiment. I was unsure of how to get it known and what to do. I tried to contact radio stations and music companies such as itunes. I got permission to post on a message board (http://www.the19thfloor.net/archives/000534.html). I went crazy, working almost every night on finding good songs to put on the tapes, to creating websites, commercials, and music videos and just to make my tape known. After failing to create the "buzz" I had wished for with USAFUX, I decided to release a follow-up, Soon Later.... After the release of Soon Later..., I realized how good I had it with USAFUX, Soon Later... recieved no attention what so ever, had bad reviews, and barely sold. I heard a million things, I heard "mixtapes shouldn't be R&B songs, they should be freestyles!", so I came strong with The Side Show. I got about 50 freeestyles, and only used about 15 (I was actually planning on using the rest on The Side Show 2, but that didn't work out), and came to find the only "buzz" on the tape was Cross Cypha's "Straight Out", which I almost didn't even include! So here I am, confused as hell. I'm thinking, "after USAFUX they wanted less intensity and smoother songs, so I put R&B on Soon Later... to attract new audiences, and I'm told freestyles are the thing, what should I do next". I decided to work hard over a few months, and found the (what I believed) perfect resolution! A comedy based song on something all guys loved (you know), which I got repremanded on and lost the younger audience for. I was almost forced to create a new single instead of "Big O Bitties" and completly leave it off the album, but I decided it was already known as the lead single and some might be buying it just for that. Now, I'm being told, that I moved along too fast and didn't properly support my past tapes, so I push off MainStream a month and find videos for previous tracks, and even a video for USAFUX's "Halftime Show" by Cam'ron. I'm then told of Cross Cypha's success, and had said right from the getco it wasn't a single and no video would be released. After being constantly pestered, I gathered material and made a short film for the song, which got absolutely no attention! Some people still believe there's no video for the track, and ask me "u gonna do a vid for "Straight Out"". So I move on get to work on MainStream, which at the time had no official name. I think to myself, "well underground didn't work as I hoped, then R&B sure as hell didn't work, freestyles sure didn't help much, how about popular artists non hit songs!" Songs that popular artists included on their albums but never became singles! Well, although its only been a few weeks, MainStream hasn't done so great either! So I gear up for yet another tape! I say, "well, maybe I can get artists new songs that I used back on previous tapes". I tried to find D. Ham, but couldn't. Then failed to find more Cross Cypha, so I got Bumba & Jhae. After gearing up with about 15 songs, I recieved an email saying what I had been doing was illegal and I couldn't continue, I thought at the time "no great loss", and just moved on. Then I thought, "I never left the game properly and finalized my small contributions to Hip Hop". So I then made up my mind on Encore - The Greatest Hits. This is my final tape, help this be the one I had been hoping for, and help me make it successful. It is only 5 bucks, so buy a few and spread the word to your friends. For $7, I will autograph the copy, and that goes for all of my other tapes too. I am have now realized how much I will miss the game, and thank you to all who supported my tapes, I do appreciate it although it may sound as if I don't. I now have a job with Diplomat Records in selling tapes for a producer, so email me at Diplomatz004@aol.com if interested. Thank you to all! |
