PRESIDENT JEFFERSON CHOOSES LEWIS TO LEAD EXPIDITION:
To lead his American expidition, Jefferson chooses his 28 year old personal secritary, Meriwether Lewis, to lead his expiditon..
President Jefferson appointed him to do 2 main things:
1.That he would document all the things (animals, land marks, ect.) they saw
2.Explore everything between the Mississippi River and Rocky Mou. And find the Northwest passage.
LEWIS SELECTS WILLAM CLARK AS COMPANION:
Native Virginian knows how to fight and negotiate with Native Americans...
Lewis selected one of the best to be his companion, someone who knew how to deal with the Native Americans, and negotiate with them. So he searched and came up with Willam Clark. Who knew the native's ways and what wepons they possessed.
SACAGAWEA JAOINS CORPS OF DISCOVERY:
Young Shoshone girl joins Lewis and Clark on their exciting adventure:
She was kiddnapped as a young girl to serve others, other than her own tribe. Years later she joined up with Lewis and Clark, because she knew the landmasrks and the animals, and she could also translate what the native Shoshone tribes where saying to the expiditoners. She would be a ton of help to Lewis and Clark along the way.
LEWIS AND CLARK SEE NEW STRANGE ANIMALS:
When Lewis, Clark and the Corps of discovery set out, they saw new and exciting animals like:
Rabbits, Geese, Bald Eagles, Deer, and Antolope..
They soon met up with a bear, which they learned to not be too friendly as you soon will read.
SAND STORMS "BLOW" EXPIDITION AWAY:
Terrible sand storms stall expidition:
On the way of traviling, Lewis, Clark, and The Corps of Discovery where "blown away" by a major sand storm.
Rendering all thier suppleies useless. Also sand, almost blinding you, makes it impossible to see more than 10 feet in front of you.
After many attempts, they decided to wait out the storm, and soon enough
the storm seemed to pass them by.
BEAR ATTACKS!!!: Mean bears attack people at site..
Just as Lewis and Clark's expidition almost left, they heard gunshots and a cry of "Bear!! Bear!!" from one of their crew members. Bratton, a member of the crew, ran threw the trees carring his gun, and seemed to be running for his life. He told of a bear coming this way, and fast. Apon seeing the members of the camp the bear reared up on his hind legs and started towards the camp, Bratton shot at it continulessly, then the bear scurried off into the trees never to be seen to the Corps again.
