Page Editor - Static Template

The look of a Static template page is defined by a template-type maxlet which describes the page's backdrop and layout. Like any maxlet, the template must be customized before it can be modified. Use Page Layout to customize a template if it is not already customized. The backdrop of the template can usually be personalized by modifying properties (colors, fonts, etc.) of the template maxlet.

Slots
Most Static templates use slots to define where content is placed on the page. Slots are properties of the template maxlet which refer the actual content objects displayed on the page. Most users will personalize the page by selecting objects into the predefined slots.

Mouseover Menu
When editing a Static template page in the Page Editor with Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher you will see a menu popup when you move your mouse over objects on the page. The menu contains various options for editing the object your mouse is over.

Before you can edit a maxlet object you will need to customize it. Note, however, if the maxlet is a container for a Page Field or a Site Field you will be able to edit the contained field without customizing the maxlet itself. If a maxlet in your layout is not yet customized (if it is a base maxlet) you will see an option on the mouse menu to Customize the it. If the object is already customized you will see options to edit it.

Advanced Editing
The backdrop and slot locations of a Static page template are defined in a property of the template maxlet called "HTML". Advanced users can customize the backdrop and add or remove content objects using the maxlet HTML Editor.
