| HI!! My name is Jessica Burden. I live in Bloomington, IL. The purpose for this site is very simple. I have sat very quietly and listened to people express their view on everything from religion to politics. So, damnit, I think it is about time for me to express mine. POLITICS: I am sick and tired of ignorant people talking about issues that they know VERY little about. It makes no sence that people who are self-centered should have the right to infulence the way other people live their lives. And yet, we as a society continue to listen to them. Why?! Why do we allow ourselves to be run by a government that does nothing but help itself? For example, our state senators and reps. have the right to give themselves raises. Do you enjoy letting your tax dollars go into the pockets of some already rich politician?! Surely not. And why do we allow our governement to make laws that are obviously not completly thought out. Want another example? Fathers who do not pay child support on time get their lisence revoked. Excuse me, but if they have no lisence how in the hell are they supposed to get to work? Isn't there a better solution to this problem?? RELIGION: Okay, I have friends that have all sorts of religions. And I don't debate any of them. However, I DO NOT like people that refuse to have any sort of religion. Thats such a crock of shit. Now, a friend of mine, happens to disagree with me and my opinions. He think that it's okay to be athiest. But I feel that it's healthier for people to have a belief in a higher being. No matter what you call him/her. God, Muhummad,Zues, you need to have a faith in something. It helps keep people stable and gives them something to center their life around. And I know that people doubt religion because there is no proof. But isn't that why its called a...and I know this is difficult......FAITH?! "Trust in the Lord with all you heart and lean not on your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge him and he shall direct your paths." Proverbs 3:5,7 RACISM: Now, I am NOT a racist person in any way, shape, or form. I believe FULLY that that people deserve equal rights. However, I don't think that is happening in the world today. Society continues to say that we are a equal as ever, but this is horribly untrue. We have come to accept things and have adapted to them. Making us think we are equal, when we really are not. You see, there are Black Awards shows and Latino Awards, but if there were to EVER be a White Award show, THOUSANDS of people would have a fit because it was would "discriminate". And ladies and gentlemen, the word "discriminate" is sooooo overused today its pathetic. People confuse the word "prejudice" with the word "discrimination" You can be prejudiced and not discriminate. You see, prejudice is when you think that one race or sex is above another. However, discrimination is the acting out of prejudices. When you are a member of the KKK or the Nazi party for example. ABORTION: Alright, I know this is a very touchy subject. But I, personally, have no problem with abortion. I think that if you are under the age of 18 and/or were impregnated through rape or insest, then you have the right to have an abortion if you should so choose to have one. But I don't think it's right for someone who is a legal adult, had consentual sex, and can afford a baby, to have an abortion. AND I DO NOT think that the government has the right to decide what the woman does. IT'S HER BODY. If it ever gets to where the government makes all abortions illegal, it's sad to say that we will STILL have them. They will just take place in back-alley abortion clinics. And instead of losing the child, we will also lose the mother. You see, with abortion, you are still giving at least one life a chance. And yes, I know that there is adoption, but I also know that carring a baby for 9 months causes the mother to bond with that child. And but letting that bond form, only to rip the baby from her, would be wretched. I am not one of those little only children who think that babies are a "wonderfull little gift from god" My mom was just a kid when she had me and I have 2 younger siblings. So I know for a fact how hard this world can be and I know how hard it is to raise a child. I have seen it with my own eyes. SUICIDE: Okay, final topic, in my opinion, sucide is a weak and cheap way out of life. Life is hard, that is something that we as humans in society are forced to accept. So to take your own life because "times are rough" is a horrible excuse for being a weak individual. You are not only killing yourself, but you are also killing the people around you. They will never be the same. You will have taken a part of their heart and killed it. How can someone be content in doing that to someone? Not to mention that I also feel suicide is a sin and that MOST of those that kill themselves are sentenced to hell. There are so many people on this Earth that want so badly to make something of themselves, and yet never get the opportunity to do so. So I think it is wretched that people, perfectly fine people, who COULD do something special, choose not to. They could discover a cure for cancer and aids. They could help end world hunger, and help spread peace. But instead they chose not to because things a "too tough" right now. Please. Spare me. Suck it up and deal. What doesn't kill us only makes us stronger. I realize that some of you will not agree with my views and opinions.
