The Horse Is My Friend
There was an old man who had a horse that had worked for years with him in his field. He wanted to retire the horse to the pasture. His friends told him
" sell the horse to the glue factory for the money" ! He told them "No, the
horse is my friend and I will not sell him".
The horse ran off from the pasture one night and all his friends laughed at him and reminded him that he should have sold the horse. He stood by his friendship and knew that he should not have sold his friend.
The horse returned the next day with three magnificent white stallions! His friend said " This is great ! " He told them, " I do not know if it is great,
I only know my horse is my friend and I should not sell him!" . His son was training the horses and was thrown off, breaking his legs. Once
again, his friends said, "This is bad , you should have sold the horse! Then your son would be able to walk & you would have the money !" The old man just restated " the horse is my friend and I will not sell him."
War broke out in the little country and all young men were called to war , but his son could not go due to his broken legs. All the young men were dying
at the front, because the little country was not big enough to fight off the invaders. The old man's friends told him, " this is good that the boy cannot go to fight!"
The old man told them, " I do not know if it is good or bad, I only know my boy is here , alive, and with me. I also know my horse is my friend . That is
all I know. "
So, we learn that while we think we know what is best for us, in reality , we often would turn down the best things life has to offer if given a choice.
Maybe we need to stand back and see what is in store for us by sticking to what we know is right .
