Sometimes people get so invovled with playing somebody elses style they never get time to develop their own. You would be amazed how damn good you can sound if you stop worrying about someone else and how good they are. And start playing your own style. Who cares if someone else thinks that your new riff sounds like shit as long as you think it sounds cool. Chances are if you come up with some riff on your own no matter what the style. It's going to sound a hell of a lot better than 4 out of 5 people trying to keep up with some James Hatfield or Joe Satriani Riff.
