| Here is just something to let you know about the Scams on the internet! The story below is just the first addition to this site! if you have a story too then e-mail it to me and I promise that I'll put it on here so that we can let everyone know about these Con artists! The first story is about Poetry.Com DON’T BOTHER ENTERING ANY COMPETITIONS TO POETRY.COM!!!!!!!! Vanity publishing is where you send your poems off and receive a letter saying that someone wants to publish them. The catch is that you have to pay an extortionate amount of money for them to publish it. Poetry.com are just the same! I entered their competition last year and received a letter from them saying I was in the semi-finals and my poem was so good that they wanted to publish it in their anthology. I was over the moon. The letter had a copy of my poem within a border on the letter. However, If I wanted a copy of the anthology I would have to send them £87. They stated that I didn’t have to buy the book but when you want to get published and get a letter like that, you DO buy the book! (And they know this). I sent the money but for months I waited but still no book so I sent them an E-mail complaining and demanding my money back. Soon after that, I got my book. I was proud of myself, as anyone would be. Bare in mind this was a year ago! In feb this year I got another letter from Poetry.com saying my poem was excellent and was in the semi-finals of the national competition. It said that my poem was so good that they wanted to publish it in the next anthology. There was also a note saying that the Editors had “ Personally Read my poem” and that it was “Full of emotion and feeling so should be put on Audi”. I thought they wanted to re-publish the poem I sent last year. If I wanted to buy the book, I would have to send them a load of money again. On the letter, like before, was my poem within a border and a caption saying “This is how you beautiful piece of work will look” Funny thing is, The poem in the border was not a poem! IT WAS THE LETTER OF COMPLAINT I SENT THEM LAST YEAR!!!! So lets get this in perspective…….. My letter of complaint was in the semi-finals of a national poetry competition, was good enough to be put in their anthology AND the editors had “Personally read it” and said it had so much feeling that it should be on an audio tape (according to the note, only selected poetry was picked for the audio). What they must do is just print out their e-mails without looking and send EVERYONE the same letter. It is nothing but a rip off to get your money so don’t get dragged into it. I got into the local newspaper about this story. Then I tried an Experement. I sent them a poem that was all about farting and crapping yourself as you did. Withing a few months I got a letter with this poem printed on it, and the letter told me how fantastic this poem was and how the beleived it should be published and Surprise, Surprise, I had got into the semi-finals Yet again!! I took both of these stories to "Watchdog" (A consumers affairs programme in the U.K.) And Poetry.com was exposed for the rip off artisets that they are! The following day I posted to poetry.com a poem called "Read this load of Monkey Spank" and it is just a ryme about a woman getting covered in weeds with an ugly woman who anyone would sleep with after a drink ant the final lines say about what a com Poetry.com really are! Poetry.com? It should be called POETRY.CON! Have Poetry.Com stung you too?Have you been ripped off by professionals? Have you parted with cash and been conned?
