| WIZARDS, WITCHES, MUGGLES WELCOMED Hrry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban , J.K. Rowling's third book about Harry Potter: Harry's summer at the Dursleys is as bad as the last --he's managing to do his homework, and he's getting his mail again. But things go sour when the dreaded Aunt Marge shows up for a visit--and she gets, well, blown up. Harry is sure he will be expelled from Hogwarts, until the Knight Bus shows up and he has a talk with Cornelius Fudge. The rest of his summer holidays are spent in the wonderful surroundings of Diagon Alley and the Leaky Cauldron. When Harry finally gets to Hogwarts, he discovers a dreadful secret: Sirius Black, an escapee from the wizard prison Azkaban, is out the get him. And the horrible guards from Azkaban, or the Dementors, aren't helping things. But there is one upside to this year: he finally has--hold on, I can't tell you! But he has two new subjects, which make his schedule a little more full, and gives him two new and interesting teachers. This is really a matter of personal opinion, but this book is, in my opinion, just as good as the first--and that's saying something. I hope I haven't given away too much. Meet the main characters of the Harry Potter books! Harry Potter: A young orphan who has been treated like dirt since the day he came to live with his horrendous aunt Petunia and uncle Vernon. He lived in a cupboard until that fateful day in July when the first letter from Hogwarts arrived. Unfortunately, Uncle Vernon never let him read his letters, so he was oblivious to the famous school for magic...until the giant, Hagrid appeared at his door. Dudley Dursley: Harry's very annoying cousin who gets everything that Harry really wants-exept the chance to go to Hogwarts. Ronald Weasley: One of Harry's two best friends. Ron comes from a large family, five brothers and one sister, all of whom get to go to Hogwarts. His family is a long time magic family, and Ron is already fairly experienced in magic when he arrives at Hogwarts. Hermione Granger: The smartest in Harry's year at Hogwarts, as well as Harry's other best friend. Hermione, like Harry's mother, is the first witch in a line of Muggles(non-magic people). Draco Malfoy: A rich snob of a wizard, coming from a long line of witches and wizards(and probably the occasional hag, considering his personality). His family was one of the first to leave Lord Voldemort's side at his downfall. Lord Voldemort: An evil wizard. He killed Harry's parents and gave him his scar. But when he could not defeat Harry, a baby at the time, he vanished. Albus Dumbledore: The headmaster at Hogwarts. He is a kind man, merry in his manner, and very likeable. Reubus Hagrid: The gamekeeper at Hogwarts. Hagrid is a sort of uncle(the good kind, not like Uncle Vernon) to Harry, and clearly they like each other -Harry Potter's going to Hollywood ! After months of secret conferences, a movie company(Warner Bros) has at last bought up Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone and--not for a while, but eventually--there will be a live action movie of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone! The search for Harry will soon begin, but the movie will not be finished filming for two or three years.
