| Michael Jackson Rushed To Hospital With Back Pain |
| Michael Jackson made another trip to the emergency room over the weekend for treatment of a back injury that has plagued him for much of his child-molestation trial.
Jackson, whose increasingly frail appearance has prompted reports that he has dropped more than 20 pounds during the trial and now weighs less than 100 pounds, was treated in the ER for two hours on Sunday and left the Santa Ynez Valley Cottage Hospital six hours later to the screams of fans, according to The Associated Press.
"Mr. Jackson's back has spurred up on him again," said Jackson spokesperson Raymone K. Bain. "It's pretty serious. It was serious enough for him to come over here." On March 10 — a day his accuser testified — Jackson said he was rushed to the hospital for treatment of a back injury sustained in the shower. When he failed to appear in court on time that morning, Judge Rodney Melville threatened to have him arrested. An hour and a half later, later Jackson famously arrived looking weak and wearing pajama bottoms and sandals. The latest flare up was exacerbated by the strain of the trial, according to Bain. "He's under a tremendous amount of stress right now," Bain said. "Other than his back, he is doing fine." Jackson's staff erected white scaffolding outside the ER entrance to block the view of photographers, and fans chased after one of the vehicles carrying the 46-year-old singer, according to the AP.
Following his latest trip to the ER, Jackson returned to his Neverland Valley Ranch to continue awaiting word of a verdict with members of his family. The jury deliberated for two hours on Friday and is to resume deliberation Monday (June 6). Jackson was also treated at the same hospital for an undisclosed illness on Thursday, less than a day before the jury began deliberations. |
