Here on the ranch in Northeast Arkansas we have a small herd of Kiko,Boer, and Monarch Nubians. We have been composing our herd for a couple of years now and have come to the conclusion that there are alot of hard learned leasons and no shortcuts. We started out with Boer and found out quick that there is alot of attention and medical needs for them here in the south. The humidity is hard on them, and creates alot of respiratory problems. We have done some culling, experimenting and close observation breeding and have improved the boer we raise. We have added a Kiko buck to our herd and found that the genetics are totaly different. We only trim feet once or twice a year, there is less phenomia, less wormings, and stronger kids. Then there is the Monarch Nubians, and we have them for the milk.We plan on adding some HALR Myotonics this spring to get our meat goats. |
