PARENTS YOU NEED TO KNOW THE TRUTH ABOUT WWASP!!!! My name is Jackie and I am a 17-year-old girl. I was in a WWASP program, i was at Academy of Ivy Ridge. I have now been home for 13 months but i was in the program for 7 months before my parents brought me home. I want to make all of you parents who love your troubled teens so much know that WWASP is NOT the answer.
WWASP stands for World Wide Association Specialty Programs. The pamphlets look REAL nice when your family is in distress because your teenager is cutting school, using drugs, drinking alcohol, running away, having sex, stealing, getting in trouble with the law and etc. BUT IT IS NOT!!!! They fool you into believing they help your children and they pull THOUSANDS of dollars out of you. They make you believe your child needs this and even bringing them home before graduation will destroy all the time they spent there. IT IS NOT TRUE!!! I returned home after 7 months, I was a level 3 (I'll explain it in a minute what levels are) and now have been home for 13 months. My parents did not feed into all the crap they feed you and did not keep me there for years awaiting my graduation. YES IT TAKES YEARS TO GRADUATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ok in this program that claims to help your children there are levels, points, consequences and yes restraint!! They tell you if you do not believe you can get your child to the facility they will send escorts to your home and take your child for you, using FORCE, HANDCUFFS AND ANY MEANS NECESSARY. You sign over 49% of your rights, this gives then A LOT OF POWER!!! So then your baby boy or girl arrives and is introduced to an "Upper-level" (a student who has been there awhile and is doing well according to program standards) and that student will explain the pages of rules to your child. OOO AND YEA YOU CAN NOT HAVE ANY CONTACT WITH YOUR CHILD EXCEPT THROUGH LETTERS WHICH THEY SEND YOU ONCE A WEEK!! Your child goes in on level one. On level one they recieve no extra priviliges and recieve only basic needs. On level one they can not sit/stand/talk/DO ANYTHING without permission!! He/she needs 200 points to get to level 2. On level 2 they can do nothing more than on level one except talk to other level 2's, get a candy bar on those nights which are usually twice a week, and have condiments on their food.
