BOSTON -- It may not be comforting news to the rest of the American League, but another indication that Manny Ramirez is quickly rounding into midseason form came Monday when the Red Sox slugger was honored as the Bank of America Presents the American League Player of the Week for the week ending April 24.
In seven games, Ramirez batted .364 (8-for-22) while leading the league with four home runs, 10 RBIs and eight runs scored. The reigning World Series MVP also set the pace in slugging percentage at 1.091 and total bases with 24. Ramirez celebrated Patriots Day in Boston on April 18 with two home runs and five RBIs against Toronto.
It was the second two-homer game of the year for Ramirez, his second in three days and the 40th multi-home run game of his career.
